The village is awake with sounds -- exotic bird calls, parrots, and boats that leave the pier. A walk around Consejo Village in the morning will acquaint you with a life and culture that is still immersed into it’s past but is slowly emerging into the 21st century. See it now.

A few miles away is the town of Corozal, where you can spend hours browsing, and enjoying the lifestyle of this interesting town.

Santa Rita Archeological Site

Corozal Town Bay

  • Ft. Barley, which is the remnant of an old British fort.
  • Corozal Town Hall, featuring a huge mural of the history of the Mayan, Spanish, British, Creole and Mesitzo cultures of Belize.
  • Mayan Site at Santa Rita - the guided tour through this site will bring you to the highest spot in Corozal.
  • Fresh produce, fish and meat market, opens early in the morning, and features fresh caught fish and fresh cuts of meats.
  • The Central Park in Corozal is a restful place to observe traditional daily life. Sitting there, you will see beautiful ethnic habitants on their way to school, work and shopping, while vendors sell their wares; and about 5:30 p.m. flocks of birds fill the trees with an orchestration of musical sounds.

Our friendly staff will be happy to arrange trips and tours to nearby destinations such as:

  • Chetumal Mexico - only 7 minutes by water - directly across the bay from CasaBlanca Hotel By The Sea.
  • Cruise two different rivers and a nearby lagoon where sightings of rare birds and animals are frequent.
  • Short trips to local villages, where you can appreciate the colorful lifestyles of ethnic cultures as they exist today.
